Bittersweet vines.

A few days ago, when it still went down to  -28° F at night, I went for a walk in the morning sunshine. I was surprised by the poplar buds beginning to open on some high branches. The sun is getting warmer.

Red osier dogwood. The stems of last year’s berries.

With night time temperatures around -28, and days around -20, we still have a lot of snow. I noticed a few days ago how much snow still clings to branches, tree forks, stumps. Almost creature-like.
